For your response to a classmate to further develop that person's ideas, select at least one classmate who has written about a different AACN BSN Essential from the one you selected. NOTE: The Week 8 Discussion page closes on Saturday of Week 8. All Week 8 posts are due by Saturday, the last day of the term. Hello Professor and Class, The AACN BSN Essential that I have selected is Essential IV: Information Management and Application of Patient Care Technology. This AACN Essential integrates nursing science, computer science, electronic communication and patient care technology based on evidence- based practice and medical experience of all healthcare professionals. Every day new electronic innovations and technology is invented for the health care system. It is crucial for the Health Care System to have adequate educated professionals and exports to develop, implement and maintain healthcare clinical information and technology to improve quality of care. I choose Essential IV, because, as I wrote in my previous post, new technology and innovations interest me very much, and is my second passion in life. When people perform with passion, the world becomes full of opportunities, rather than obstacles and they focus on personal abilities, rather than limitations. People who live out their life s   passions follow their hearts. Passions change as life evolves ” ( Hood, 2014, p. 568 ). I feel that based on my nursing experience, I can change, innovate, support and maintain balance among technological progress and direct patient care. The patient is always a priority. It is important to find a way to improve direct patient quality of care by involving new technology, such as, painless IV access, or a non-narcotic electronic way to decrease pain, or Fall Prevention Device, that could secure and protect the patient from fall, or video call bell and many more ideas. It all sounds like a fantasy, but the chances of it becoming a reality in the near future are very strong. For example, our hospital is already using an electronic bed that turns and positions the patients, and in turn, prevents pressure ulcers. Also, we operate MEWS technology, that recognizes patient deterioration symptoms. Additionally, we utilize PYXIS system to control substance inventory. Innovation in medical technology is a non-stop process that changes and improves quality of care every day.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
