Matt Cheng Leanna Lostoski English 403 11/23/2017 RP11 Part 1: The author creates tension in her narrative through her choice of diction and how her paragraphs are organized. She builds up tension by adding her parts of her story carefully and concisely, making sure that her readers get every part of detail relevant, allowing her to build ten- sion within her narrative. The reflection in this essay helps readers get a deeper understanding of the essay and helps the readers understand what the author experiences and how the author pro- gressed throughout the essay. In addition, if there had not been a flashback for this essay, the whole narrative would have been different. It would have been a lot harder for the author to get to the part where they describe their PTSD and it would be a lot harder to keep the readers en- gaged and build tension. The flashback is extremely important and allows the author to compare the two incidents and describe to the readers how it is relevant and similar. It also helps the read-
