The author of this article Eugene Robinson starts off the article by providing us with an example of why assault weapons need to be banned. He states that and Islamic State sympathizer was able to go into a gun store and buy both a pistol and an AR-15 which he apparently used to kill 49 men and women at a nightclub. He then raises a point where he states that had the Islamic sympathizer had only been able to purchase a handgun and not the AR-15, people may still have died but not as much. He then states that the Second Amendment allows us to bear arms but it doesn’t say that we can’t control the purchase of guns, allowing me to infer that people will still have the right to bear arms just not assault weapons.
