It identifies a suitable economic theory and evaluates the economic fundamentals of its strategies. A report is prepared by identifying the gaps between the Economic Framework & the actual Strategies. An appropriate conclusion is derived in the end by verifying the facts. Objectives The study takes a detailed analysis of the strategies and performance of Murugappa group for the past 10 years to understand how economic principles drive its Strategic Management process. Methodology We will consider 3 major companies - Carborundum Universal Ltd., Cholamandalam MS General Ltd., and Parry Agro Industries Ltd. - of the group for a detailed analysis of its strategies. To find out the right management process, we make use of some strategic tools like PESTEL, Porter’s Five Forces, Internal & External Factor Valuation, SWOT Analysis and Competitive profile matrix. Limitations During the study, there were limitations in getting the financial statements and balance sheet of the firms. Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd is a prominent fertilizer manufacturing company of India that was started in 1978 and has been in the industry from last 36 years. It is a Government of India company and 4th largest manufacturer of Urea in India. Presently the authorized share capital of RCF is Rs. 800 Crore & paid up capital of Rs. 551.69 Crore. Company has been accorded coveted “Miniratna” status in 1997. Besides Urea and Complex fertilizers, RCF also produces bio-fertilizers, micronutrients and 100% water soluble fertilizers. RCF always strives for upkeep of the plants through modernizing and upgrading technology. Revamping and de-bottlenecking is the secret that has kept the company thriving for four and a half decades. This has facilitated plants to sustain operations and meet technological challenges of improved efficiency, lower energy consumption and maintain environmental norms.
