A maternal diet high in antioxidants led to offspring with longer telomeres than offspring whose mothers did not receive antioxidant supplements during pregnancy (Prostak & Anderson, 2016) . Telomeres are regions of repetitive DNA at the end of a chromosome that protect a chromosome from degradation (News Medical 2014).
