Competence Source Cited : Smith, M. K. (1996, 2005) ‘Competence and competencies’, the encyclopaedia of informal education . www.infed.org/biblio/b-comp.htm a. Research Discussion : Smith in his article assessed how the language of competence is now often misunderstood emphasizing this reason was due of its association with vocational training and skill sets than understanding. With this notion, he highlights that ethical competence becomes a pivotal distinguisher between simply having skills and having a genuine sense of professionalism. He pronounces this to be the stage beyond specialized competence where ethical competence is put in consideration when extending policies to aid skill and competencies to training and discipline for professional occupations. Workplace competency is described as a requirement of skill, attribute or behavior for a specific job used to define and compare an individual’s effectiveness. Workplace competencies indeed provides an employee a fair guide for what is expected of them in terms of their performance.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
