The myth of Zeus and Cronus, is a Greek mythology that originated from Greece during the middle of the 8 th century B.C. Zeus is the Greek god of the sky and the ruler of Mount Olympus, the kingdom in which he lives. Cronus was the father of all gods and titans, including Zeus. He was the titan king of heaven, and the god of time. Zeus was the youngest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. Cronus learned of a big prophecy from his parents, that one day his child would overthrow him. With the sixth child, however, Rhea tricked Cronus and gave him a stone to swallow, which he promptly did. When he was born, his father Cronus intended to swallow him as he had all of Zeus's siblings: Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter and Hera. But Rhea, Zeus’s mother hid the newborn in a cave on Mount Dicte in Crete. When he had grown up, Zeus caused Cronus to vomit up his sisters and brothers, and these gods joined him in fighting to wrest control of the universe from the Titans and Cronus, their king.
