Novel Processing of Biodegradable and Biocompatible Polymers at Small Scales for Medical Applications Dr. Thanh Nguyen Department of Chemistry & Institute of Material Science University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06969 Background : Biodegradable polymers are critical materials used for surgical sutures. They have a precise structure and function, which, after doing their job, allow them to dissolve without harming the human body. Studies inspired by this were conducted on the 3D manufacturing of biopolymers for single injection vaccines, including methods to create 3D biodegradable microstructures. More studies were then conducted based on those findings to create ways to advance these methods for a superior delivery system. Methods and Results : In this study, creating a method for single-injection multi-pulse drug delivery was the starting point. This would include one injection with several different substances, so a single-particle needed to be made to release the different substances in a single-pulse. This is where biodegradable polymers used in medical

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
