Assignment 4 The data for this task tries to predict tree cover in four areas. However it can be seen that the training set consists only of 2.6% of the total data points. This may not be the best way of predicting probabilities or building a good and reliable model. The independent variables are characteristics that can help in evaluating what type of cover is expected in any particular area. I converted cover type and area into nominal variables for the purpose of this analysis. Original I built my model using Modeler. My model for the Original (training and test set classification) data set with reference to spruce/fir is as follows (only up to 3 decimal places): Elevation in meters a Aspect in degrees azimuth b Slope in degrees c Horizontal distance to nearest surface water features d Vertical distance to nearest surface water features e Horizontal distance to nearest roadway f Hillshade index at 9am, summer solstice, 0-255 g Hillshade index at noon, summer solstice, 0-255 h

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
