ETH501Business Ethics (2017SEP05FT-3) Worldwide sales of organic food from 1999 to 2015 (in billion U.S. dollars) [Sta18] Organic food production is based, at its heart, upon modern, sustainable farming systems which maintain the long-term fertility of the soil, use less of the Earth’s finite resources to produce our food and which put animal welfare at the heart of farming practice [OFG]. Organic Food Industry Consumers in this area are more likely to be people who not only care about healthy foods, but also about the environmental footprint the manufacturing companies and farmers leave on our planet. This holistic approach to food can help to satisfy the many consumers who want to know that the food they purchase in a store or restaurant was grown and prepared in ways that don't harm the planet or their bodies [Nat17].
