What is social psychology and how do we define it? - The study of how individuals think about, interact with, and are influenced by other people - The scientific study of the way in which people’s feelings, behaviors, and thoughts are influenced by the real or imagined presence of others. 2. Why is it useful to study social psychology? - It can help you understand how best interact with other people 3. Why is it tempting to say social psychology is common sense? Why shouldn’t you do that? - Common sense is folk wisdom, and it can be very wrong about human behavior - Because we often decide that something is common sense after we know all the facts 4. What is personality, and how does it relate to social psychology? - Examines influences on emotion, behavior, and cognition that exist inside a person - Social psychology examines the influences that exist outside a person 5. What is Lewin’s equation?
