SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMATION SYSTEMS A. Social media information system is “an information system that supports the sharing of content among networks of users” (Kroenke and Boyle, 2015). B. Social media providers, users, and communities make up the three main roles of any SMIS (Kroenke and Boyle, 2015). C. The benefits of SMIS are plentiful, and allow for advances in organization and an increase in social capital, among many others. D. Although there are many benefits, social media information systems naturally come with risks, and it is crucial for all firms that partake in SMIS to know what those risks are and how to evade them. II. There are three main roles that are involved with social media information systems. A. The first role is the social media providers. 1. Examples of social media providers are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat and Twitter. 2. Social media providers permit the foundation of social networking and its platform, hence why they are a crucial role. B. The second role is the role of the users in social media information systems. 1. Users involve both the professional side (employees of the firm that’s running the social media platform) and the individuals who partake and follow the organization’s social platform. 2. There is a projected 25% annual growth rate of social media users over the next 5 years (“Why You Need to Understand the Importance of Social Media”, 2017).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
