Death with Dignity Ask yourself this question, would you want a loved one who had no cure for the illness or disease that they had to constantly be in pain? The thought of a loved one suffering for an extended period sounds unappealing, well at least it does to me. On October 27, 1997, the state of Oregon made it legally possible for terminally ill patients to have the option on whether they would want to end their lives. Oregon, is not the only state that allows such things there is also Vermont, Washington, and California. I believe this should be a law passed throughout the United States simply because not wanting to die is not living and somethings modern medicine simply cannot cure. This topic is very controversial based on the principle that “all human life is sacred”. There are many social stigmas surrounding this as well because it is sending a message to the country that we think this is the uncomplicated way out. Most of the country feels there is always another option even though science and modern medicine says otherwise. Economically, this not
