Biology Studying Describe 2 ways how crops can be modified and a strength and a weakness of the modification o Crops can be modified via selective breeding, where certain desirable characteristics are enhanced in an organism. An example of selective breeding is the gradual conversion of teosinte to maize. Teosinte initially had small kernels that were not very tasty but fell out of the cob easily and could grow into a new plant. By selectively breeding for big kernels that are not easily removed, maize was created as a new food source. From the perspective of the plant however, it is difficult to make new plants as the kernels do not fall out easily. Another method is to genetically modify the plant by inserting a transgene. In impoverished countries, GM plants can provide nutrients that are otherwise difficult to get (such as golden rice which provides Vitamin A). Although there are no documented dangers to GMOs, it is still a contentious issue in modernized countries. Explain how de-etiolation occurs

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
