Abigail Smith Mr. Stone Global Studies 3A March 9, 2015 Five Pillars Comparison Differences in religions are the cause of a variety of conflict since the beginning of religions. However, religions have many similarities. For example, Islam and Christianity have much in common. In Islam, the first pillar, faith, emphasizes their belief in one God, as in Christianity. Christians and Muslims both believe in heaven and hell. Both faiths have certain rules or principles which structure a good and honest life. Muslims believe that by following these rules the will get to heaven when they die. Christians, however offer another, more feasible, path to heaven; Christians believe that Jesus, the Son of God, died so they could go the heaven. The verse John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” In sharp contrast, Muslims believe that Jesus was just a prophet and that God is alone. “And that which hath been given to Moses and Jesus, and that which was given to the prophets from their Lord.
