PART I: FUNDAMENTAS OF IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE LAW CHAPTER 1: Introduction Key Terms Administrative Tribunal a specialized governmental agency established under legislation to implement legislative policy for example, the Immigration and Refugee Board is an administrative tribunal established under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA ) Case Law interpretations of statutes and regulations created by the judgments of courts and other adjudicators; case law is part of common law Citizen a person who has the right to live in a country by virtue of birth or by legally acquiring the right Codified formalized and clarified in writing in the form of binding legislation Common Law a body of legal principles and rules that can be traced back to Britain and that are found in court judgements Constitution the basic framework within which all other laws are created, establishing the basic principles to which all other laws must conform Customary International Law
