Hotstede's dimensions refers to an individual's ability to accept delayed gratification of their social needs - long-term versus short-term orientation Hofstede dimension refers to how society deals with the fact that people differ in their physical capabilities - power distance - how a society deals with the fact that people are unequal in physical and intellectual capabilities Hofstede dimeension on relationship between the individual and other people - individual versus collectvism - the extent to which different cultures socialize their members into accepting ambiguous situations and olteration ambiguity Hofstede dimension extent to which different cultures socialized their memebrs into accepting ambiguous situations and tolerating uncertainty - uncertainty avoidance - the relationship between the individual and his or her fellows Hofstede dimension lookated the relationship between gender and work roles - masculinty vs feminity - the relationship between gender and work rules (tough v tender) Criticism on Hostede's work - asumes a one-to-one correspondence between culture and nation - research was culturally ound - informants worked with one company in a single industry - work is no longer representative -- has become dated
