Each branch of the nerve fiber ends in a bulbous swelling called a synaptic knob, which is nestled in a depression on the muscle fiber. The two cells do not actually touch each other but are separated by a tiny gap, the synaptic cleft. The synaptic knob of the motor neuron releases acetylcholine from storage vesicles. This acetylcholine diffuses across the synaptic cleft and binds receptors on the motor end plate of the skeletal muscle fiber. References Classification eBook & Resources Section: 11.03 ...

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
