Sierra Adams BIO 1200 1. What was Mendel’s explanation as to why these experiments were needed. There was no law or law-like relation that would allow someone to predict the form of the hybrids from the forms of the parents. 2. His experimental design. Why did he choose the 7 traits he did? Mendel wanted to make sure there were constant and differentiating characteristics. 3. When Mendel talks about “constant forms,” what does he mean? How is this described in modern textbooks? “Constant forms” are results from a combination of traits that are unified through fertilization. Today “constant forms” is described as The Fundamental Laws of Inheritance. 4. Notice how Mendel relates his experiments to the findings of Gärtner and Kölreuter. What did Mendel identify as the focus of their work? Did Mendel seem to think his studies confirmed or refuted their ideas? (Reference the statements in Mendel’s paper that led you to this conclusion).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
