ECE 220L02 March 14, 2015 Experiment #8 Current-Voltage Characteristics of the Junction Field Effect Transistor Executive Summary: The Junction Field Effect Transistor is an active device having intrinsic characteristics that make them suitable for high speed operations. JFETs are capable of operating in the gigahertz range which make them attractive towards communications applications. The type of JFET that is used in this experiment is an n-channel JFET. A simple analogy to describe the operation of the JFET used is that of a hose. Imposing no restriction on the flow of fluid in the hose will allow the fluid to flow at its maximum. Similarly, since the n-channel JFET used is a normally-on device, subjecting no stimuli at the gate of the JFET will allow current to flow from the drain to the source at its maximum. Observing the structure of a conventional n-channel JFET reveals that to control the JFET, or to pinch off the channel to prevent the current from the drain to the source

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
