Running head: HISTORY AND ME 1 2001 to 2010 Personal Situations / Events 2001 to 2010 Important Historical Events 2001 to 2010 Key Indicators 1. 2001-2002 I turned 18 and joined the Navy. 2. 2002-2004 I graduated from boot camp and reported to my first duty station in Lemoore, CA. 3. 2004-2007 I transferred to Whidbey Island, WA. I deployed to 6 countries including Afghanistan twice and the Horn of Africa. 4. 2007-2010 I was selected as the Sailor of the year twice and got married. Also, this is the time I began going to college. 2001-2010 1. 2001 The World Trade Center attack. 2. 2002 The Euro enters circulation. 3. 2003 Space shuttle Columbia disaster. 4. 2004 Athens hosts the Olympic Games. 5. 2005 Hurricane Katrina. 6. 2006 Saddam Hussein is executed. 7. 2007 Apple introduces the iPhone. 8. 2008 Beijing hosts the Olympic Games. 9. 2009 Water is discovered on the Moon. 10. Anti-Matter is trapped by scientists. 1. 75% of Americans see the world as a more dangerous place than a decade ago, up from 53% in early September 2001. 2. 24% of Americans say that they learned something about the 2008 Presidential campaign on the internet. Double the amount from the previous election. 3. 50% of Americans rated the 2001-2010 decade the worst in the last 50 years.
