Arcosa Definición. La arcosa es un tipo de arenisca, de grano mal redondeado, rica en feldespatos normalmente frescas, con un mínimo de 25% de feldespato, llamada por ello arenisca feldespática. Deriva de una erosión rápida de rocas ígneas o metamórficas. Características. Tiene buenas características mecánicas, admitiendo taludes verticales, pero cambia radicalmente al mojarse, convirtiéndola en un material pastoso que presenta grandes problemas en la construcción. Es una roca débilmente compactada, de color rojizo, rosáceo o gris. Su composición mineralógica es parecida a la de un granito. Los granos son mal redondeados y de diámetro de 0,02 y 2 milímetros. La roca se constituye de cuarzo, más de 25% de los fragmentos de feldespato potásico de cantos vivos, de mica y de plagioclasa y en poca cantidad de matriz de grano fino y de cemento de cuarzo o de calcita.
