Michelle Tran BIO 101 Professor Rupert 1. Glycolysis produces- 2 ATP, 1 NADH (3 ATP after ETC) from PGAL. There is no ATP invested therefore there is no ATP being replenished. This all occurs in the cytosol. The Formation of Acetyl CoA produced- 0 ATP but 1 NADH (3 ATP after ETC) from 1 pyruvate. This occurs in the matrix. The citric acid cycle produces- 3 NADH (9 ATP after ETC), 1 ATP, 1 FADH2 (2 ATP after ETC). This occurs in the matrix. The ETC and chemiosmosis then collect electrons and H+ ions from the NADH and FADH2 to produce a total of 15 ATP from NADH, 2 ATP from FADH2, and a total of 2 ATP (glycolysis) and 1 ATP (Citric Acid). This PGAL will produce a total of 20 ATP. 2. 2-carbon acetic acid will enter during the formation of Acetyl CoA. The one fragment will produce 3 NADH (9 ATP after ETC), 1 FADH2 (2 ATP after ETC) and 1 ATP for a total of 12 ATP. 3. An 18-Carbon fatty acid would create 108 ATP. The fatty acid would produce 9, 2-carbon acetates. So 9 carbon fragments x 12 ATP pwould produce 108 ATP.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
