ACCT1054 Financial Accountability And Reporting Group Assignment, 2017 page 1 Financial Accountability And Reporting Semester 1 2017 Research Assignment Due Date: This assignment is worth 30% of the total assessment for this course ( 30 marks ). The assignment focuses on the topic of Singapore accounting environment and financial reporting . What you need to do 1. Form a group of min. 3 and max 4 students from within your timetabled class and communicate the group members’ names and RMIT ID to your local lecturer. 2. Each group will be allocated to a Singaporean Company by your local lecturer, following the below list. 1) Capital Land 2) Isetan 3)Far East 4)Wing Tai 5) Thai Brewery 6) Breadtalk 7) SPH 8)Starhub 9) OCBC 10) Q and M Dental 3. To complete the assignment it is necessary that each group accesses and reads the annual report of the assigned company as per FY 2015 and FY 2016. 4. Organize group meetings ( at least two ) and for each meeting record appropriate Minutes , using Appendix 1). 5. Submit a written group report responding to the assignment questions and the results of your research on the assigned company. 6. The report will be assessed according to the rubric attached at the end of this document. The written group report (including the minutes) is worth 30% of your total assessment. REQUIREMENTS : Each group is required to organise group meetings. Group meetings do not have to be face_to_face, but may utilise various formats such as Facebook, Skype or any other available networking technology. For each meeting, Minutes must be recorded during the meeting (using Appendix 1). Word files containing templates of these documents have been provided on blackboard in the Assessment Tasks folder. The Minutes for each group meeting will be included at the end of the group report file and submitted as a single file on Turnitin and Blackboard. ACCT1054 Financial Accountability And Reporting Group Assignment, 2017 page 2 Important : This is a group assignment and all group members are expected to contribute to the meetings and the writing of the report. While the norm is that all group members will receive the same mark, marks may be adjusted if it is noted that individual group members have contributed at a standard that is higher or lower than the rest of their group members. The decision will be made based on the content of the minutes. SUBMISSION (online only – no hard copy required) : Only one person from the group is permitted to upload the file with assignment answers and minutes. The group must decide who will take on this responsibility. Submission involves uploading the Report and minutes in WORD file format via two links: 1) Turnitin link to check originality (you are allowed for multiple submissions here _ 35% originality tolerance has been set for this Assessment) 2) Then, only a final version of your assignment is to be uploaded to the second link (named FINAL SUBMISSION) so that it can be assessed.
