Describe how a virus operates. Symantec describes a computer virus as “A computer virus, much like a flu virus, is designed to spread from host to host and has the ability to replicate itself. Similarly, in the same way that viruses cannot reproduce without a host cell, computer viruses cannot reproduce and spread without programming such as a file or document.” [Sym18] In addition, from our Chapter 3 reading material this week, I found the following on computer viruses. Fred Cohen a researcher in 1983 performed a series of studies that constructed programs replicating themselves. Soon he used the term “Computer Virus” describing the characteristics;
