Bonnie Emmerling MGT 4120 3/18/18 1 As most things, power can be used in either a positive or negative way, it all depends on the individual given the power. In an article titled, “Using Positive Power in the Work Place” the author came out with a strong message that read, “A leader who consciously cultivates an attitude, either positive or negative, in the workplace will pass that attitude on to the employees ”. Finding a way to connect to one’s subordinates, even if it is something as simple as a positive attitude will go a long way. If an employee loves their job and their co-workers they are more likely to give everything their best effort and treat the business as if it were their own. Another pro of using positive power is that, “Handling power positively can motivate and inspire others to be the best they can be”, with less fear of severe repercussions when making a mistake, employees will be more willing to be creative, step out of their comfort zone, and try new things. When an employee feels as if they are having a positive impact on a business or company they will become more comfortable, more willing to do more, and happier upon arriving to work.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
