Melissa Blevins Enzyme Report Introduction Enzymes is a catalyst, or a chemical produced by cells to generally speed up specific chemical reaction without changing the chemical reaction at the end of the reaction. Enzymes are essential to the digestion of the body and for a healthy body. Enzymes work with all other chemicals in the body, such as acid inside a stomach, it helps break down food into molecules for a wide ranch of the functions that happen inside a body. The purpose of the enzyme lab is to analyze how the enzymes working inside the digestive system correspond with each other to form a healthy body. “Amylase, Protease, Lipase are three enzymes found working throughout the body to aid digestion. Amylase is produced in the mouth when and starts to take affect when food is inserted into the mouth. Protease is found in the stomach where most of the chemical reactions are going on in digestion. Lipase is found in the pancreases and intestines and it plays the role of energy storage and cell health.” [DrC15] The correspondence of all the enzymes is why the lab is being
