BFP2 TASK 1: PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS ABILITIES Research Topic The subject matter I chose to research is the impact of preschool education on students’ phonological awareness abilities. I have been a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for the past six years in Georgia and have taught many phonological awareness skills/activities. It is my belief that the introduction of phonological awareness abilities at an earlier age such as in a preschool setting significantly improve students’ phonological awareness abilities. Original Data Collection Instrument The questionnaire is intended to measure how teachers perceive their students phonological awareness abilities as they enter the kindergarten classroom for the first time. The questionnaire has ten questions. There are five Likert scale answer possibilities for each question: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. At the bottom of the survey is a space for comments. The questionnaire will be administered via email to the Kindergarten teachers in my school district. The purpose of the instrument is to
