REVIEW SHEET 2 Week 4 Review Sheet Exercise 6: Protozoa and animal parasites 1. Describe the basic structures of protozoa. Can these same structures be seen in bacteria using a light microscope? a. Protozoa is a one-celled eukaryote that is unicellular. It has a complex internal structure that is responsible for metabolic and transport activity. Yes, protozoa can be seen under the light microscope (Cowan, 2014). 2. Are any parasitic diseases directly communicable from person to person? If so, how are they transmitted? a. Yes, some of the protozoa can be transmitted from person to person by being passed through droplets in the air, bodily fluids that be passed through the blood, and saliva; in the same manner it can be spread through soil and water (Morello, 2013). 3. What kinds of precautions should be taken in caring for persons with directly transmissible parasitic infections?
