Stephen Kramer 5/1/06 Cornell University Ansci 105 Presentation Report The presenter that I was truly interested in was the most recent presentation by Karen Housekneckt who is a Pfizer employee. She has been working at Pfizer now for about eight years. She was the first person in her family to attend college and was going to be pre-vet. She never had thought she would end up in pharmaceuticals and went to graduate school for research where she did cutting edge research at Harvard Medical School on dairy cows. She was then on the Purdue University faculty, one of three women at the whole university, and then joined Pfizer in 1998. When she first joined Pfizer she was in the veterinary medicine group, but then in 2001 she switched to the diabetes group. She is currently performing obesity and diabetes research. After introducing herself and her background, she talked about Pfizer as a company. Pfizer is the world’s leading heath care company and has been around for more than 155 years and was originated in Brooklyn, New York. Over $52.5 billion was
