Lead Iodide Lab Lauren Hansen PURPOSE: Find amount of PbI₂ produced when 0.70-0.90 grams of KI reacts with 0.90-1.10 grams of Pb(NOз)₂ 2KI (aq) + 1Pb(NOз)₂ (aq) 1PbI₂ (s) + 2KNOз (aq) find actual and compare to theoretical yield based on limiting reactant Materials: KI Pb(NOз)₂ 2 Beakers Filter paper Hot plate Purpose: 1.) KI: 0.70-0.90 grams +25mL H₂0 = Pb(NOз)₂ : 0.90-1.10 grams +25mL H₂O = 2.) Heat to dissolve, don’t boil 3.) Combine beaker A and B, rinse make sure all of A is in B 4.) Heat mixture, don’t boil 5.) Filter 6.) Let dry overnight 7.) Campfire heat until the PbI₂ is completely dry A B Calculations:
