Define the concept of ethics and discuss how the ethical conduct of employees affects the productivity and profitability of an organization. According to Kubasek, Brennan, & Browne (2015), ethics are a study of behavior that can be good or bad. This includes actions and values related to the behavior. I interpret ethics to be a series of beliefs and or principles that a person holds. They are about what people believe to be right or wrong. Often, people’s ethics are derived from legal systems, philosophies, religion and its views, and moral beliefs. These beliefs are how we define what is or isn’t ethical and are the basis for our behavior and or how we think. Good ethics in a business can affect many aspects. Ethics can affect productivity, employee retention, investments, employee morale, and profitability (Kaput, n.d.). Strong leadership holds the key to a business’s success.
