Job analysis is an important prerequisite to implementing a performance management system. Job analysis leads to the development of job descriptions, which provide the criteria (behaviors and results) that will be used in measuring performance. Answer the following questions: What are the consequences of an effective job analysis and of a poorly conducted job analysis? What potential biases can impact analysis outcomes? What has been your experience with job analysis? An effective job analysis results in gaining information about the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required, to perform the job (Aguinis, 2012). Once this information is known, a detailed job criteria can be created. If a job analysis is not done well, a person could be hired that does not match the criteria or the organizations mission and goals. This can also affect their job performance.
