Ariel Reid SCOM 4540 Journal Assignment #6- Emotions in Conflict March 1, 2018 According to Dictionary.com, emotion is “an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate or the like is experienced, as distinguished from cognitive and volitional state of consciousness.” To me, emotion is the way one expresses their self whether it’s through actions, thoughts or words. Throughout my years, emotion has come into play during conflict when decisions are being made, along with how one reacts to a situation. Whether or not your emotions affect how you react to something, is ultimately up to the people in conflict. Emotion comes into play when one is trying to resolve conflict because, it can interfere with how one clearly sees things. In high school, I had a car that was older and had a lot of issues, I hoped and prayed I would get a new car freshman year of college as a gift from my parents. I was constantly hinting at wanting a new car and hoped I would luck up and get one from my parents. My dad did not
