Your Name: Date: 1/14/2018 Criteria Your response 1. Introduction of Community (20 points) Identify the city and state of your community and briefly describe the community you will be using for this assignment. It should be the area where you live or the area surrounding your work setting but must include a residential area. Demographic data are not needed. The community of Washington Heights and Inwood in New York City has a population of 195,302. This community is mostly Hispanics (Dominican, Puerto Rican, Mexican, etc.), 17% White, 7% Black 3% Asian and 1% Other. As you well can imagine, such a variety of cultures leads to many different languages, foods, and cultural practices, and status. The majority of the individual living around is between 25-44 years old. 2. Windshield Survey (75 points) a. Vitality: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the community vitality. Driving around my community we can find young professionals, older adults, dogs, and little babies. Many people in my community are healthy; walking around, pushing baby carriages, walking their dogs, shopping, going to church, and exercising by running and walking around the neighborhood. Washington Heights comprises a diverse community with a desire for easy-going living. The Manhattan community of Washington Heights is a vibrant, cultural, and trendy neighborhood filled with many great restaurants and working families. There are many great affordable restaurants nearby and stores. There are many vendors in the streets and
