1 HIS 131 11 March Midterm Exam 1. The Treaty of Paris in 1783 ended the American Revolution. It was a negation between American forces and British forces. The British needed to focus on different things in different parts of the world so they decided to make peace with America to make this easier for them to accomplish. Great Britain accepted the thirteen colonies as independent and agreed that Mississippi was the western boundary. Land was passed through the original Proclamation Line of 1763. This process cost Indian peoples more of their land without any debate. The northern and southern boarders were still not clearly defined. This created future debate and issues. The treaty did require that debts be repaid and land to be restored to the original owners whom they belonged to before the war. In the states, groups such as Loyalists and Patriots were divided causing issues in how America would run and operate after the Treaty of Paris. Some wanted to continue political ties while others wanted to severe political ties with Britain. Slaves and
