This cartoon was created in 1865. The cartoon was made by Joseph E. Baker. It displays Lincoln trying to refurbish the Union post-civil-war. Andrew Jackson decided to continue repairing the union after the civil war. While they both were trying to repair the union, it was challenging. The cartoon is displaying Andrew Jackson forcing his weight on a round globe while putting it back together (by stitching it). Andrew Jackson is telling Abraham Lincoln “take it easy Uncle Abe, I will draw it closer than ever”. When he is telling him this, it shows how Andrew Jackson was passionate in helping Abraham Lincoln rebuilding the Union. Abraham Lincoln then replies, “A few more stiches Andre, and the good old union will be mended!” Joseph Baker used symbolism in order to establish the point the message was making within the
