MAE 204 Fall 2017 Final Project Memo Alexander Wilkins (50178753) 1) Project Overview The objective of this project was to design a gas-turbine system that achieves a minimum power production and the highest thermal efficiency possible. I was given certain parameters that I had to follow and specifications that I had to stay within. I was given the choice between three different compressors and four different combustion turbine/gas turbine configurations. This was not the classic classroom project. I was able to make some of the engineering-based decisions on my own in order to maximize the results of my system. 2) Design Approach I applied my knowledge from class to develop a set of general equations in order to solve this system. I attempted to write a code in excel but it was taking too long so I proceeded to calculate my answers by hand, however I did write an excel code to do my interpolations. I used the STC-GV compressor and the 7E.03 combustion chamber/gas turbine with all of the maximum constraint values in the given tables. I

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
