Portfolio Milestone Option 2 Frank Serpico was a New York City Police officer who found widespread, systematic police corruption in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. This prompted mayor John V. Lindsay to appoint the landmark Knapp Commission to investigate the NYPD. In 1967 Serpico reported to his superiors, credible evidence for the corruption but nothing was done. Then he went to the highest level of authority and they did not do anything either. Another police officer named David Durk decided to help him. They wanted to get attention on this important information so they got help. They decided to tell their story to the New York Times. The story was a front page story about widespread corruption in the NYPD. He decided to tell his story because he felt that he was in imminent danger and he did not want to die in vain.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
