HW3  Problem 1 Assume that you manage a food restaurant, which can serve drive-through customers at the average rate of one car every four minutes. Customer arrivals are 10 cars per hour. Assume that service times are random (Type A model). a. Calculate the average number of cars in the system. b. Calculate the average time that a car spends in the queque. c. Assume that you can drop price to attract more customers. Let λ = 20 - price. If you want to keep the restaurant 80% time busy, what price should you offer? Problem 2 Sam the Vet is running a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs at the local grade school. Sam can vaccinate a dog every 3 minutes. It is estimated that the dogs will arrive independently and randomly throughout the day at a rate of 1 dog every 4 minutes, according to a Poisson distribution.
