Victoria Chauvin WGST 1020 01 FA 2017 12/05/17 Yeah, I am a Feminist Once I learned what the word “feminist” meant, I immediately identified with it. Once I learned that the fight did not end at women getting their right to vote, I realized that I have to get involved. I have always been proud to have feminist ideals, but it was not until recently that I have been comfortable saying it out loud, all the time. The more I say it, the more I reaffirm my beliefs. The more I say it, the more I normalize it for myself. The more I say it, the more I show the world who I am. There are plenty of people who are not comfortable with admitting that they are a feminist. I used to be one of them. One of the main reasons people do not want to admit that they are a feminist is that they do not want others to see them as fanatics or misandrists. I would always share useful posts from feminist pages on social media online, but it was not until I was comfortable saying it out loud to another person that I was able to get past that fear. I used to be very hesitant about letting those words come out of my mouth. I would become quiet and mumble the phrase, then resume the conversation. It was almost like an apology for being myself. Now, however, I state proudly, “Yeah, I am a feminist.” By doing so, I feel like I am asking the person I am speaking to to take me as I am or leave me be. I no longer feel ashamed by the statement. Instead, I feel empowered.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
