Chapter 1, Problems/Exercises – Questions 1 and 8 1. Why is it important to use systems analysis and design methodologies when building a system? Why not just build the system in whatever way seems to be “quick and easy?” What value is provided by using an “engineering” approach? Using a system analysis and design methodologies will help/prevent implementing bad bugs. The earlier they are caught the cheaper it will be for your company. Taking the quick and easy approach will run you out of business. It might start off as being cheap and a great idea but the results are poor and you end of paying more money in the end. If you follow the engineering approach you can be certain that your project will succeed. Additionally, it focuses on the customers needs and the process is very structured. 8. How might prototyping be used as part of the SDLC? Since a prototyping is part of the SDLC, it can be used to determine what the user wants.
