Physical Security Technology 2 Unit 4 Assignment: Physical Security Technology 1. Why is it important to consider physical security measures during the remodel or new construction process? What are the specifics to designing various types of protection? According to Fischer, et al., they informed us that “Basic physical security begins with the perimeter. The concept of integration of various barriers and protection technology can deter and may prevent unwanted intrusion.” (Fischer, et al., p. 195) In other words, they said the planners should play an active role in implementing measures to address the needs of the first responders in case of emergency. Therefore, during an a remodeling the planner can build off what need for security purpose. However, the planners must understand the underlying needs for security by the short and long-term solutions. In facts, if the security needs are anticipated early in the pre-design and design phases and are identified in a threat and risk assessment. The physical security needs, including mitigation of any biological and chemical threat agents released There various types of protection depending of the security needs. According to Fischer, et al., “A facility’s perimeter will usually be determined by the function and location of the facility itself.” (Fischer, et al. p.196) The essence of their comments is that the specific goals for physical security are to protect building biological and chemical threat
