Rhetorical Devices Logos is a rhetorical device that makes an appeal to logic and reason. It’s effectuated by the use of statistics, facts, and details on the usage/cost of the product. Pathos is a rhetorical device that makes an appeal to emotion. It is effectuated by the appearing to make the product influence the audience’s emotions by making the product appear to be fun or by inducing happiness, increasing attractiveness, or by appealing to human’s innate emotional investment in health or wellness. Ethos is a rhetorical device that influences the audience by establishing the credibility of the speaker. Ethos establishes credibility by the use of celebrity or expert endorsements. Ethos is also effectuated by the use of “real customers and their testimonials of the product.
