Unformatted text preview: Just now DE 4 ~ Jesus‘ Doctrine of Scripture When approaching the question, how would I define and describe Jesus' doctrine of Scripture ‘? First I would share that Jesus always treated the Biblical history as a straightforward record of facts. According to DeYoungd Jesus “affirmed that no word of Scripture can be falsified. No promise or threat can fall short of fulfillment. No statement can be found erroneous“ (DeYoung, EDI-4. p. 98)- Jesus believes Scripture to be the word of God. De‘r'oung puts it this way. "it would he gross irnpietj.r to think that an}r word spoken by God, or committed to writing by God, might be an errant word, a wrong word or a broken word" [De‘foung 2m 4, p. 93.}. Jesus confirms in Matthew 5:1le8, "Do not think that I have come to ohoh'sh the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abolish them hat to fiatfitt them. For train I say to you until heaven and earth pass their}; hot on tote, not s as: " (ass). Jesus‘ mission was to fulfill Scripture, his teaching always upheld Scripture. Never did he disregard, disrespect. nor disagree with a single test of Scripture. “He affirmed the human authorship of Scripture while at the same time beating witness to the ultimate divine authorship“ Jesus treated the word as sufficient, clear, necessary and final. He ahsolutel},r believed that the Bible was from God and free fi'on1 error tDeyoung, 2014, p. 1'39). Is was impossible to revere the Scriptures more deeply or affirm them more mmplfilifily than Jesus did" {DeYoung, 211114, p. 110). Reference DeYoung, K. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
