But we have to get them there. Luckily for us, oxen are the universal power -Ah, the Paul Bunyan story. 1: Skidding --- dragging logs by oxen happens in winter; ground is frozen and snow is a natural lubricant river is a great wet conveyor belt 2: River Driving --- travel wood by water happens in spring most water in the river log jam -- we need people to ride logs down the river and fix the log buildups Sorting/ownership Log mark, owners' marks #hideyourkids #hideyourcows log boom: the system by which the logs are sorted on the river in real time Splash downs: dams on the branches of the rivers that create a buildup of water. When the time is right we open up the dam and let the logs free (creating an extra burst of water to push the logs to the main channels) 3: Milling the Logs 1640-1680: pit saw 1680-1830: sash saw - water wheel and saw combined

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
