Allen-Hernandez 1 Preston Allen-Hernandez Mrs.Mustafa English 12 December 12, 2016 American Dream The American Dream, a truly sad and pathetic idea, but one that everyone clings to like a lifeline. As the phrase suggests, the American Dream is just that, nothing but a dream. It is not only Americans that have this dream, every human being has this dream, and subsequent problem. They all, no, ‘we’ all have the same dream, the same desire, the same need, to be free from all that ties us down. The ‘American’ Dream, what a superior idea. It implies that the dream in only an American’s, that only we have the desire to be free. This country may have been around for over 200 years, but the Dream is an everlasting idea that everyone has had throughout time. Even now in America, the ‘land of the free’, everyone here still has the same Dream, to be free from our bonds, the problems that hold us down. But even if we try to solve our problems so we can achieve our dream, none of us can do it, the only hope we have is to come close. The American Dream, though important sounding, is the same as any other dream, a goal that is impossible to reach. Most people will simply end up back where they started. However, a rare and select few sometimes have the skills needed to move on, to move towards the Dream. It
