One observation from Chapter IX Of the Ends of Political Society and Government is that man has two powers before he goes out into the world of politics. “Both these he gives up when he joins in a private, if I may so call it, or particular political society, and incorporates into any commonwealth separate from the rest of mankind.(pg.160)” I think it is true that we lose the two powers Nature offers like doing whatever we can do to preserve ourselves and those around us. It changes in a political society because we have to follow the rules that society has. The other power we lose is to punish those who have committed crimes by our own accord. So we can’t make our own justice because now we have to follow the society’s protocol for crimes committed. Under the influence of the political society, the state of Nature we first followed we now have to abandon because now we have to act accordingly to our society; now we have to not only have to look out for our preservation, but for the preservation of the society.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
