Chapter 8, Problem #15 a.) Responsibility accounting is a performance measurement that involves decentralizing an organization into manageable parts and assigning performance objectives to each part. Because employees are assigned responsibility only over those areas within their control, responsibility accounting empowers employees to make decisions that benefit themselves as well as the entire company. It also serves to provide employees with clear, attainable objectives. Furthermore, management benefits by having standards on which to base performance evaluations. Additionally, it enables management to identify problem areas and address issues appropriately. b.) Budget presentation by Family Resorts, Inc. is organized and easy to understand.
