Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is one of the most controversial issues globally. GMOs are unique organisms which their genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering methods for improving its quality and productivity. GMOs are the source genetically modified (GM) foods distributed worldwide. In agriculture, genetically engineered (GE) crops are generated to possess numerous needed traits, such as pest resistance, resistance to harsh environmental conditions, and resistance to herbicides, increased nutritional value, improved product shelf life, or production of valuable drugs. The most commonly used GM crops are soybeans, corn, sugar beets, cotton and canola which are bases for many food products. The discussion in this paper will touch on some of the controversial issues surrounding GM food such as health risks. Many people will argue that GMO use is unhealthy for the human body to ingest. According to an article written by the staff of the Mason County News in 2016 that “Years of research proves GMOs are safe to eat.” Not only is it safe to eat but it has benefits for the farmers who grow the
